July News

There hasn’t been any production to report since the last newsletter in May, but the sales team has been kept quite busy dealing with on-going sales of mackerel and blue whiting. We’ve also been meeting our herring customers in preparation for the North Sea season starting in August.

The quota for North Sea and West Coast herring is only around 30,000mt for the Shetland and Scottish vessels so we only expect a 2-3 week season. Luckily we have 16 Baader filleting machines and 10 whole fish packing lines so we still expect to produce a reasonable quantity in this short time.

Kindly contact us at sales@shetlandcatch.com if you have any interest in frozen whole round, flaps or skinless fillets from herring this summer.

We have decided to exhibit again at the World Food Moscow exhibition together with our good Russian partners, Russian Fish Company. This is held at the Expocentr at Krasnaya Presnya between the 15-18 September. This is an ideal time to discuss mackerel sales for the autumn so, if any of you will attend this show please visit our stand to discuss your requirements. More information will follow nearer the time.

Congratulations must go to Billy Finnie, our Sales Executive primarily responsible for Polish sales and chartering our reefer vessels. Billy won a gold medal and 2 bronze medals in the archery event at the recent Natwest Islands Games, held in Aland. Billy also set 2 Island Games records on the way to reaching this great achievement. Well done Billy!!
