The largest UK owned pelagic vessel, the Altaire, made its first landing to our factory in three and a half years last week. The 76.2m mid-water trawler made a landing of 1900 tonnes, the largest single landing our factory has had and reputed to be the biggest ever in Scotland for human consumption. We were delighted to have them back and we have been pleased with the quality of the fish, with over half being sold to the discerning Japanese market. Our factory was working at full capacity over the two days it took to land the fish and this has been a welcome boost to the mackerel season. We would like to thank the crew of the Altaire for their business and hope they will continue to make future landings with us.
