April News

It’s been a busy time since our last news page with the ending of the mackerel fishery in mid-February and the start of the blue whiting season in mid-March.

Sales of mackerel have been surprisingly healthy given the state of the economies in our main markets in Eastern Europe. The attractive USD and Euro exchange rates meant we could offer affordable prices into the market. Most of our stocks are sold now but there is still a small quantity of whole round 400-600gms remaining in storage in Klaipeda, Lithuania. Please contact us at sales@shetlandcatch,com if you have an interest.

We have received several landings of blue whiting from Norwegian vessels, catching 12-20 hours from our factory between St Kilda and Faroese waters. The quality has been very good with the majority of our production being 25cms+ and an average weight around 130gms. Please contact us at the above email address if you are interested in buying this species.

The final preparations are being made for this year’s ESE in Brussels between the 28-30 April. All our sales team will be present on our usual comfortable stand in
Hall 5 # 645, so please contact us if you wish to schedule a meeting.
